Giovedì 2 ottobre la Roma ha perso 0-1 contro il Lille, nella seconda partita di Europa League.
A decidere la sfida è stato il gol di Hákon Arnar Haraldsson al 6’.
Allo Stadio Olimpico erano presenti ben 61.561 spettatori, che hanno sostenuto la squadra con grande calore, trasformando la sfida europea in un vero e proprio atto di fede e appartenenza.
Al termine della partita Gasperini ha spiegato la filosofia della squadra: “Chi pratica sport deve essere felice quando vince, archiviare le vittorie e, quando perde, fare altrettanto. Non esiste la parola abbattersi…”.
Analizzando la prestazione Gasperini ha aggiunto: “Lo spirito della squadra è stato molto alto, così come l’intensità della partita. Siamo andati in svantaggio troppo presto e abbiamo messo gli avversari nella condizione migliore per giocare, ma la squadra ha reagito con impegno fino alla fine. Al di là di qualche errore, si possono trarre indicazioni preziose per crescere e migliorare…”.
“Da questa partita usciamo con qualche valore in più...”, ha, infine, aggiunto il Tecnico giallorosso.
Il portiere Mile Svilar, protagonista indiscusso, ha così commentato la gara: “Abbiamo commesso qualche errore. È un peccato aver subito il gol nei primi minuti. Chi tira i rigori dimostra sempre coraggio; i prossimi andranno meglio. Io faccio il mio lavoro e continuerò a dare il massimo…”.
“Ora testa a Firenze…”, ha aggiunto Svilar, già proiettato alla prossima sfida.
La partita ha vissuto un momento surreale: prima Dovbyk si è presentato dagli undici metri ma Özer ha parato; l’arbitro ha ordinato la ripetizione per un’irregolarità e lo stesso Dovbyk ha calciato di nuovo, trovando ancora l’opposizione del portiere.
Sul terzo tentativo è andato Soulé, ma anche lui si è visto respingere il tiro da Özer, capace di neutralizzare tre rigori consecutivi.
A chiusura della serata Gasperini ha ribadito: “Nello sport non esiste la parola delusione. Questo è lo sport, questo è il calcio. Si archivia e si riparte…”.
Durante la mattinata del 2 ottobre la società ha altresì ribadito il proprio impegno sociale, partecipando all’evento “Oltre lo schermo”, presso l’Auditorium Parco della Musica.
L’iniziativa ha coinvolto centinaia di studenti della Capitale, invitandoli a riflettere sull’uso consapevole dei social network e sui fenomeni di bullismo e bodyshaming.
Stephan El Shaarawy in un videomessaggio ha dichiarato: “Da giocatore ho capito che, all’interno di un gruppo, devi saper tirare fuori il meglio da ognuno…”.
In effetti, l’A.S. Roma, impegnata nel progetto “A Scuola di Tifo”, ha accolto l’invito con il Chief Football Operating Officer Maurizio Lombardo, portando un messaggio chiaro: “Affrontare le difficoltà con coraggio e determinazione è importante sia dentro che fuori dal campo…”
In una serata di Europa League che ha confermato i valori della squadra, la Roma ha mostrato coraggio, unità e professionalità, consapevole che ogni evento, finanche negativo, rappresenta un’occasione per crescere e migliorare.

On Thursday, October 2, Roma lost 0-1 against Lille in their second Europa League match.
The game was decided by a goal from Hákon Arnar Haraldsson in the 6th minute.
The Stadio Olimpico welcomed 61,561 spectators, who supported the team passionately, turning the European clash into a true act of faith and belonging.
At the end of the game, Gasperini explained the team’s philosophy: “Those who play sports must be happy when they win, put victories behind them, and do the same when they lose. There is no such thing as getting discouraged…”
Analyzing the performance, Gasperini added: “The team’s spirit was very high, as was the intensity of the match. We went behind too early, giving our opponents the best conditions to play, but the team reacted with commitment until the end. Beyond some mistakes, valuable insights can be taken to grow and improve…”
“From this match, we come out with a few more values…”, concluded the Roma coach.
Goalkeeper Mile Svilar, a standout performer, commented on the game: “We made some mistakes. It’s a shame to concede a goal in the first minutes. Whoever takes penalties always shows courage; the next ones will go better. I do my job and will continue to give my best…”
“Now, focus on Florence…”, added Svilar, already looking ahead to the next match.
The match experienced a surreal moment: first Dovbyk stepped up to the penalty spot, but Ozer made the save.
The referee ordered a retake due to an infringement, and Dovbyk tried again, only to be denied once more by the goalkeeper.
On the third attempt, it was Soulé’s turn, but he too saw his shot stopped by Ozer, who incredibly managed to save three consecutive penalties.
Closing the evening, Gasperini reiterated: “In sport, there is no such thing as disappointment. This is sport, this is football. You put it behind you and move forward…”
Earlier in the morning, the club also reaffirmed its social commitment by participating in the event “Beyond the Screen” at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
The initiative involved hundreds of students from the capital, encouraging them to reflect on the conscious use of social networks and issues such as bullying and body-shaming.
Stephan El Shaarawy, in a video message, stated: “As a player, I’ve learned that within a group, you need to bring out the best in everyone…”
Indeed, A.S. Roma, engaged in the “A Scuola di Tifo” project, responded to the invitation with Chief Football Operating Officer Maurizio Lombardo, delivering a clear message: “Facing difficulties with courage and determination is important both on and off the field…”
On a Europa League evening that confirmed the team’s values, Roma showed courage, unity, and professionalism, aware that every event, even a negative one, is an opportunity to grow and improve.
