Dopo il grande successo riscosso nel 2023 e 2024, The White Buffalo, progetto musicale del cantautore statunitense Jake Smith, affiancato da Matt Lynott alla batteria e Tommy Andrews al basso, annuncia il suo attesissimo ritorno in Italia con un nuovo tour previsto per settembre 2025.
Conosciuto per il suo stile inconfondibile che fonde folk, rock e storytelling cinematografico, The White Buffalo ha conquistato il pubblico italiano anche grazie alla notorietà ottenuta attraverso celebri serie TV come “Sons of Anarchy”, “The Punisher”, “Californication” e “This Is Us”.
In particolare, il brano “Come Join the Murder”, scritto con Bob Thiele e Kurt Sutter per il finale di “Sons of Anarchy” ha ricevuto una nomination agli Emmy nel 2015.
Negli anni, il legame con il pubblico italiano si è consolidato, con numerosi concerti come quelli a Firenze e Roma nel 2024; nonché la partecipazione in apertura al live di Bruce Springsteen al Circo Massimo di Roma nel 2023.
Ad accompagnare The White Buffalo in tre delle quattro date sarà Giorgio Canali, figura storica del rock italiano.
The White Buffalo ha rilasciato ad Occhio sul mondo un’interessante intervista di cui si riportano i punti salienti:
1. Torna in Italia per quattro concerti, dopo il tour sold-out dell’anno scorso e la performance con Bruce Springsteen. Che tipo di rapporto ha con il pubblico italiano?
“Il mio rapporto con il pubblico italiano è davvero speciale. Ogni volta che torno, è come tornare a casa dalla famiglia. I promoter e tutte le persone coinvolte ci trattano come fossimo dei loro: viaggiamo insieme, condividiamo i pasti e viviamo davvero l’Italia in modo profondo. Il pubblico è incredibile: entusiasta, pieno di energia e sempre pronto a restituire tantissimo durante i concerti. Anche dopo il tour sold-out dell’anno scorso e il concerto con Bruce Springsteen, sento un legame ancora più forte con i fan italiani. La loro passione e fedeltà significano tutto per me, e suonare per loro è sempre un’esperienza indimenticabile…”.
2. Ha scelto città molto diverse per questo tour: Capoterra, Livorno, Cesena e Milano. C’è un motivo particolare dietro queste tappe, o qualcosa che la lega a questi luoghi?
“Onestamente, per la maggior parte del tempo andiamo dove ci chiamano e mi fido davvero dei suggerimenti dei nostri promoter italiani. Spesso scelgono posti che sono un po’ fuori dagli schemi, non solo le grandi città, così le persone possono venire da ogni parte per assistere ai concerti. A volte è anche per farci vivere un’esperienza unica come artisti e come persone. Ad esempio, volevamo andare in Sardegna perché i promoter pensavano che ci sarebbe piaciuta molto, sia come musicisti che come viaggiatori. Quindi non è sempre una decisione calcolata da parte mia, ma mi fido dei promoter affinché ci guidino in posti che saranno speciali sia per noi che per i fan…”.
3. Giorgio Canali aprirà tre dei suoi concerti. Ha già avuto modo di entrare in contatto con lui? Com’è nata questa collaborazione?
“Non ho ancora avuto modo di entrare in contatto con Giorgio Canali, ma ho iniziato ad ascoltare la sua musica e la trovo meravigliosa, ha questo stile indie interessante, piuttosto rilassato. La collaborazione è nata in realtà tramite i nostri promoter; pensavano che Giorgio sarebbe stato perfetto per questi concerti e che avrebbe dato un bel contributo al cartellone. Sono entusiasta di incontrarlo e di passare del tempo insieme durante il tour…”.
4. Ha sempre combinato lo storytelling cinematografico con il folk-rock. Da dove nasce questo approccio narrativo nella sua scrittura?
“Non sono esattamente sicuro di dove sia cominciato tutto, ma sono cresciuto ascoltando musica country e poi ho attraversato diverse fasi musicali. Alla fine mi sono ritrovato ad ascoltare molti cantautori che scrivevano con quello stile narrativo. Quando ho iniziato a scrivere canzoni, le ho sempre pensate come storie, piccoli pezzi cinematografici e non mi sono mai allontanato molto da quello. Raccontare storie attraverso le canzoni oggi sembra un’arte un po’ perduta, quindi sono felice e onorato di cercare di mantenerla viva nella mia musica…”.
5. Ha spesso detto di trarre ispirazione da storie vere o personali. Ce n’è una recente che l’ha particolarmente colpita e che potremmo ascoltare durante questo tour?
“Onestamente, ogni canzone che scrivo è come un figlio per me, ed è difficile dire quale mi tocchi più delle altre. Per questo tour, in realtà, sto pensando di riproporre alcuni brani meno noti e sto chiedendo ai fan quali canzoni vorrebbero riascoltare che non eseguiamo da un po’. Il significato delle mie canzoni cambia spesso per me nel tempo, possono assumere nuovi significati a seconda di ciò che accade nella mia vita, nella cultura o nel mondo. Quindi, anche se non c’è una storia specifica recente da indicare, mi emoziona sempre vedere come queste canzoni continuano a evolversi e a sorprendermi e sono curioso di scoprire quali colpiranno di più in questo tour…”.
6. Se dovesse descrivere questo tour con una sola parola o immagine, quale sceglierebbe?
“Viscerale…”.
Jake Smith, con il suo inconfondibile stile folk-rock cinematografico, promette uno spettacolo autentico, capace di lasciare un segno: il tour prenderà il via giovedì 4 settembre a Capoterra, in provincia di Cagliari, nello scenario del Parco Urbano.
Si prosegue sabato 6 settembre a Livorno, tra le mura storiche della Fortezza Vecchia, per poi spostarsi domenica 7 settembre a Cesena, nella suggestiva Rocca Malatestiana.
Gran finale lunedì 8 settembre a Milano, sul palco del Circolo Magnolia, uno dei templi della musica live in città.

Following the great success of 2023 and 2024, The White Buffalo, the musical project of American singer-songwriter Jake Smith, joined by Matt Lynott on drums and Tommy Andrews on bass announces his highly anticipated return to Italy with a new tour scheduled for September 2025.
Known for his distinctive style that blends folk, rock, and cinematic storytelling, The White Buffalo has won over Italian audiences, also thanks to the widespread exposure of his music in hit TV series such as “Sons of Anarchy“, “The Punisher“, “Californication“, and “This Is Us“.
His song “Come Join the Murder” – written with Bob Thiele and Kurt Sutter for the final episode of “Sons of Anarchy” was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2015.
Over the years, his connection with the Italian public has only grown stronger, marked by memorable shows like those in Florence and Rome in 2024, and his appearance as the opening act for Bruce Springsteen at Rome’s Circo Massimo in 2023.
Joining The White Buffalo on three out of four dates will be Giorgio Canali, a legendary figure in Italian rock: his raw, powerful songwriting promises to bring an opening act full of depth and emotion.
The White Buffalo spoke with Occhio sul mondo, offering insights into his upcoming return to Italy. Here’s what he had to say:
1. You’re coming back to Italy for four shows after last year’s sold-out tour and your performance with Bruce Springsteen. What kind of relationship do you have with the Italian audience?
“My relationship with the Italian audience is truly special. Every time I come back, it feels like coming home to family. The promoters and everyone involved treat us like one of their own—we travel together, share meals, and really experience Italy in a deep way. The crowds are incredible: they’re enthusiastic, energetic, and always give so much back during the shows. Even after last year’s sold-out tour and sharing the stage with Bruce Springsteen, I feel an even stronger bond with the Italian fans. Their passion and loyalty mean the world to me, and performing for them is always an unforgettable experience…”.
2. You’ve chosen very different cities for this tour: Capoterra, Livorno, Cesena, and Milan. Is there a particular reason behind these stops, or something that connects you to these places?
“Honestly, for the most part, we go where we’re asked, and I really trust the suggestions of our Italian promoters. They often pick places that are a little outside the norm not just the major cities so people can come from all over to see the shows. Sometimes, it’s also about giving us a unique experience as performers and as people. For example, we wanted to go to the island of Sardinia because the promoters thought we’d really enjoy it, both as musicians and just as travelers. So, it’s not always a calculated decision on my part, but I trust the promoters to guide us to places that will be special for both us and the fans…”.
3. Giorgio Canali will be opening three of your shows. Have you had the chance to connect yet? How did this collaboration come about?
“I haven’t had the chance to connect with Giorgio Canali yet, but I’ve started listening to his music and I think it’s wonderful he’s got this cool indie vibe that’s also pretty laid back. The collaboration actually came about through our promoters; they thought Giorgio would be a great fit for the shows and could really help round out the bill. I’m excited to meet him and spend some time together on the road…”.
4. You’ve always combined cinematic storytelling with folk-rock. Where does this narrative approach in your songwriting come from?
“I’m not exactly sure where it all started, but I grew up on country music and then went through a bunch of different musical phases. Eventually, I found myself listening to a lot of singer-songwriters who wrote in that narrative style. When I first started writing songs, I approached them as stories little, mini cinematic pieces and I really haven’t strayed much from that. Storytelling in song feels like a bit of a lost art these days, so I’m happy and honored to try to keep that tradition alive in my own music…”.
5. You’ve often said you draw inspiration from real-life or personal stories. Is there a recent one that especially moved you, which we might hear on this tour?
“Honestly, every song I write is like a child to me, and it’s hard to say which one touches me more than the others. For this tour, I’m actually planning to bring back some deeper cuts and I’ve been reaching out to the fan base to see if there are songs they want to hear that we haven’t played in a while. The meaning of my songs often changes for me over time—they can take on new significance depending on what’s happening in my life, in the culture, or in the world. So, while there isn’t one specific recent story I’d point to, I’m always moved by how these songs continue to evolve and surprise me, and I’m excited to see which ones resonate most on this tour…”.
6. If you had to describe this tour with just one word or image, what would it be?
“Visceral…”.

The tour kicks off Thursday, September 4th in Capoterra (Cagliari), set against the beautiful backdrop of the Parco Urbano.
It continues on Saturday, September 6th in Livorno, inside the historic Fortezza Vecchia, before heading to Cesena on Sunday, September 7th, at the stunning Rocca Malatestiana.
The grand finale will take place Monday, September 8th in Milan, at the legendary Circolo Magnolia, one of the city’s most iconic live venues.
